This is probably a review of the overall step on system but .... (6 days riding on these so far) Ive been in strap bindings for decades, this was my first ever step on set up (i got the Burton Ions to go with these bindings and they're mounted on my burton free thinker) The system works perfect! I've used them in the recent Hotham pow day, icy groomers and some jib laps. I don't feel insecure at all. Its also made my over all set up noticeably lighter. Getting in and out of them is easy and smooth, getting out i found harder but u get the hang of it after a few runs.
Theres only two things i personally don't like.
1: I like to adjust my high back angle so that it runs parallel with my heel edge, this can not be achieved with the step on system due to the heel lock receiver mechanism being built into the high back, not a huge deal but i can feel the difference.
2: This may be due to the ION boots being super stiff and they're my first pair of new boots in 4 seasons, but i've found the step on system, so far, to be way too responsive, even when you're out to carve, the set up demands 100% of your attention or you'll get bucked. Im hoping once the boots pack out a bit this will resolve its self.
Don't need to stop and do up bindings anymore! However, there are still not that many boots compatible.
Great service. Fantastic feeling through the board. No more stopping to do up bindings!!
