The Nidecker Alpha APX blends all mountain freestyle with the surfy feeling we all love, to create a powerful board that excels all over the mountain. The APX series features a 3D shaped nose and stepped in tail for increased float in powder and manoeuvrability in slush and crud for a better carving experience.
With a mid flexing core and playful Surfy CamRock camber profile you get a snowboard which doesn't want to run you into the ground from being too aggressive, but can still handle whatever is throw in its way, thanks to all the extra additives, making it a true all mountain powerhouse.
Board Type: All Mountain-Freeride
All Mountain snowboards are versatile boards that excel across various terrains, from groomed runs to off-piste. These boards offer solid edge control and responsiveness, making them a great option for riders who want one board to do just about everything.
Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.
Flex: 6/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)
Offering a balanced blend of flexibility and stiffness, mid-flex boards are versatile and suitable for all-mountain riding. They provide enough responsiveness for carving while maintaining some forgiveness for playful or casual riding.
Ability Level: Advanced
Advanced snowboards are stiffer and more responsive, designed for high-speed control, precision riding, and handling challenging terrain or tricks.
Shape: Directional
A directional snowboard has a shape designed for riding primarily in one direction, with a longer nose and a shorter, more compact tail. This design provides better control, stability, and float in powder, making it ideal for freeride and all-mountain riding. It offers optimal performance when riding forward, with a focus on carving and downhill runs.
Camber Type: Surfy CamRock
Surfy CamRock puts camber between your feet with rocker in the tip and slightly in the fail, giving the board plenty of pop with catch-free turns and more forgiving response.
Width: Standard, Wide
Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.
Wide boards are for those with large boot sizes and provide extra flotation, reduced drag, and never feel clunky or cumbersome underfoot.
Inserts: 2x4 Inserts
These offer a tighter hole pattern, allowing for more precise stance adjustments. They're common on modern boards and ideal for riders who want fine-tuned positioning and can be used with any binding with a standard or mini disk.
Board Construction
Topsheet: Absorbnid Topsheet
Absorbnid is an innovative top layer designed to absorb unwanted vibrations.
Laminate: Power Rails Construction with Triax Plus Fiberglass
Taking inspiration from surfboards, the Power Rails Construction is wrapped around the wood core and meets a thin sidewall. This provides instant drive through the board to the edges.
By weaving fiberglass at three directions at 45°, Triax Plus Fiberglass offers maximum board stiffness underfoot. Using multiple densities of glass above and below the core delivers a uniform torsional flex, increased pop, and faster response.
Core: Light Core with Pop Carbon Plus
This core is composed of three wood types, including featherweight paulownia and super responsive poplar. Hardwood beech stringers down the centre enhance the overall strength and boost pop.
Pop Carbon Plus adds carbon on the top and bottom of the core, from nose to tail, offering a stiffer flex. This provides extra pop, response, and a smoother ride at speed.
Base: N-9000 Sintered
A lightning quick sintered base made from super dense material with a high carbon content to minimise friction.
Additional Features:
A 3D curved nose helps the board roll smoothly from edge to edge, creating a natural, surf-like flow through each turn.
The Drop Out is derived from the shape of a bird of prey's tail. It generates more control when up on edge, but also allows for extra agility and deep, tight turns.
