The Nidecker The Mosquito is a compact, surf inspired freeride board designed to bring a playful yet powerful feel to days where you want to carve hard and float in powder. Built with a volume shifted directional shape, it can be ridden shorter than a traditional snowboard while still delivering excellent float, stability, and edge control.
Its Surfy CamRock profile combines a rocker nose with camber underfoot for effortless lift in deep snow while staying responsive on groomers, while the lightweight poplar-paulownia core keeps the ride lively, responsive, and lightweight. Premium construction details like Power Rails for enhanced edge drive, carbon reinforcement for added pop, and a race grade N-9000 sintered base ensure speed and durability across changing conditions. All of these features, packed into a shorter more volume shifted board, gives you endless possibilities while exploring the mountain on even the deepest of days.
Board Type: Freeride-Powder
Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.
Powder snowboards are designed for deep snow. Generally these boards feature a directional shape with a tapered tail for better float and ease of riding.
Flex: 8/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)
A mid-stiff flex delivers stability when you open it up, stronger edge hold through hard carves, and reliable support on bigger features. It rewards confident riders with a locked-in feel, smooth damping, and control when conditions demand.
Ability Level: Advanced
Advanced snowboards are stiffer and more responsive, designed for high-speed control, precision riding, and handling challenging terrain or tricks.
Shape: Tapered Directional
A tapered directional snowboard features a shape where the tail is narrower than the nose, providing enhanced control and stability in deeper snow. This design improves floatation in powder and allows for smoother turns, making it ideal for freeride and backcountry riding. While it excels in one direction, the taper helps the board naturally guide you through challenging conditions.
Camber Type: Surfy CamRock
Surfy CamRock puts camber between your feet with rocker in the tip and slightly in the fail, giving the board plenty of pop with catch-free turns and more forgiving response.
Width: Standard
Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.
Inserts: 2x4 Inserts
These offer a tighter hole pattern, allowing for more precise stance adjustments. They're common on modern boards and ideal for riders who want fine-tuned positioning and can be used with any binding with a standard or mini disk.
Board Construction
Topsheet: Absorbnid Topsheet
Absorbnid is an innovative top layer designed to absorb unwanted vibrations.
Laminate: Power Rails Construction with Triax Plus Fiberglass
Taking inspiration from surfboards, the Power Rails Construction is wrapped around the wood core and meets a thin sidewall. This provides instant drive through the board to the edges.
By weaving fiberglass at three directions at 45°, Triax Plus Fiberglass offers maximum board stiffness underfoot. Using multiple densities of glass above and below the core delivers a uniform torsional flex, increased pop, and faster response.
Core: Light Core with Pop Carbon Plus
This core is composed of three wood types, including featherweight paulownia and super responsive poplar. Hardwood beech stringers down the centre enhance the overall strength and boost pop.
Pop Carbon Plus adds carbon on the top and bottom of the core, from nose to tail, offering a stiffer flex. This provides extra pop, response, and a smoother ride at speed.
Base: N-9000 Sintered
A lightning quick sintered base made from super dense material with a high carbon content to minimise friction.
