The Nidecker Megalight offers the pinnacle in a freeride powder that absolutely will dominate the mountain, whether you are riding groomers all day or chasing the deepest pow in deep winter. Considered Nidecker's flagship board and loaded with all the highest end tech they have developed over the years, the Megalight defines what should be the norm when you are looking for the ultimate snowboard. An ultra light, responsive core construction with carbon, one of the fastest race bases on the market, and the fun but responsive Surfy CamRock camber profile all add up to make a snowboard that is technically top of the line so you can enjoy everything from the biggest lines to the deepest snow on the mountain.
Board Type: Freeride-Powder
Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.
Powder snowboards are designed for deep snow. Generally these boards feature a directional shape with a tapered tail for better float and ease of riding.
Flex: 8/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)
Stiff snowboards are precise, responsive, and built for advanced riders tackling high speeds, steep terrain, or icy conditions. They deliver powerful turns, excellent edge hold, and enhanced stability, especially during aggressive riding.
Ability Level: Advanced
Advanced snowboards are stiffer and more responsive, designed for high-speed control, precision riding, and handling challenging terrain or tricks.
Shape: Tapered Directional
A tapered directional snowboard features a shape where the tail is narrower than the nose, providing enhanced control and stability in deeper snow. This design improves floatation in powder and allows for smoother turns, making it ideal for freeride and backcountry riding. While it excels in one direction, the taper helps the board naturally guide you through challenging conditions.
Camber Type: Surfy CamRock
Surfy CamRock puts camber between your feet with rocker in the tip and slightly in the fail, giving the board plenty of pop with catch-free turns and more forgiving response.
Width: Standard, Wide
Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.
Wide boards are for those with large boot sizes and provide extra flotation, reduced drag, and never feel clunky or cumbersome underfoot.
Inserts: 2x4 Inserts
These offer a tighter hole pattern, allowing for more precise stance adjustments. They're common on modern boards and ideal for riders who want fine-tuned positioning and can be used with any binding with a standard or mini disk.
Board Construction
Topsheet: Absorbnid Topsheet
Absorbnid is an innovative top layer designed to absorb unwanted vibrations.
Laminate: N-Tech 2.0 Construction with Triax Plus Fiberglass
N-Tech 2.0 Construction combines aspects of cap construction with traditional sandwich construction allowing excess weight from the middle of the board to be shaved away to offer a more powerful flex pattern while staying responsive underfoot.
By weaving fiberglass at three directions at 45°, Triax Plus Fiberglass offers maximum board stiffness underfoot. Using multiple densities of glass above and below the core delivers a uniform torsional flex, increased pop, and faster response.
Core: Mega Core with Carbon Cell
The Mega Core is made of a blend of poplar and paulownia with extra layers of vertically orientated glass fiber to reinforce the core. This combination of wood and glass not only makes a stronger core, but keep the flex more consistent for longer and adds extra pop.
The Carbon Cell adds an extra strip of carbon in between your feet, adding extra response and lightweight stability.
Base: N-12000 Graphite
The N-12000 Graphite base is the fastest base in the Nidecker line, made of a high density sintered material with added graphite for glide that is next to no other.
Additional Features:
By completely removing wood from a part of the nose and adding forged carbon, it makes the nose of the snowboard ultra light, giving extra float in powder.
Extra shock absorbing TPU material surrounds the inserts allowing a smoother feeling ride underfoot and eliminating foot fatigue.
Titanium inlays along the edge of the board underfoot, near the inserts, function similar to a gas pedal providing extra response while you go edge to edge.
By adding 3D channels in the tail of the snowboard it adds improved glide in deep snow, essentially acting like a funnel to spray snow out from under your board providing you with more speed and decreased friction.
A 3D milled core between the inserts adds a more precise flex under your feet adding extra control.
In addition to the traditional 4x2 insert pattern, an extra set of inserts towards the tail of the snowboard allows you to further set back your bindings giving even more float.
